Our Process

The key to a long lasting floor coating is to start with proper prep. Even the best of floor coatings will fail when the floor is not properly prepped. In this post we will go through our process and why we do it this way.

The number one cause of coating failure is adhesion failure. There are two important factors to get right here. One is cleanliness and the other is profile. Most diy kits and even some contractors recommend cleaning with degreaser and then using an acid etch. Unfortunately these methods are very inconsistent and often result in coating failure down the road. Our preferred method of prep is to grind the surface of the concrete. This both clean any contaminants off the slab and also opens up the pours in the concrete giving it a proper profile. Grinding the concrete gives us the optimum surface for our coatings to adhere.
